LIFE DURING LOCKDOWN

During Covid19, as a church a lot of things have been going on. Here are a number of things that have taken place.

  • Weekly hook up with friends of Clapham Elimwho were provided with a freephone number so that everyone whether they had access to a smartphone, computer or not had the opportunity to join in united weekly hook-up sessions.

  • A church What’s App Focus Group was set up so everyone could keep in touch, share and encourage each. Reasonable ground rules were also put in place for everyone to follow.

  • Every two weeks a virtual communion service was held on line as we celebrated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ – and rejoiced that Jesus was alive!

  • Regular phone calls were made with potentially vulnerable individualswith help and support provided when necessary.

  • Folk in the church would keep in touch with each other to chat, encourage and pray one with another.

  • Freshly cooked nutritional Chinese meals were provided twice weekly to those who wanted them–a number of folk in the community took advantage of these free meals, Our thanks to the Bamboo Chinese Restaurant, Mitcham who provided these excellent meals freely.A donation of £150.00 was sent to the NHS as folk wanted to show their appreciation for this kind gesture by the restaurant!

  • A number ofsupport hook-ups were had with those where aspects of scripture were shared and discussed with each other.

  • One of the Church Leaders had a Bible Study Zoom Conference Call with a church in another country.

  • One of the Church Leaders held a number of funeral services for folk within the community and sought to minister into individuals who were going through challenging situations etc. Of course the Government’s Guidelines were observed. A number of these folk were able to join in the weekly hook-up sessions and were prayed for during these times.

  • The setting up of Bible studies for those who wanted them.

  • In addition as a church, we’ve supported a number of families within the community who’ve been bereaved during lockdown. We’ve also had the privilege to help others facing challenging situations etc. Of course the Government’s Guidelines were always observed. A number of these folk were able to join in the weekly hook-up sessions and were prayed for during these times.

Each week a precise of the messages shared with the church were uploaded, so that those who were working could mainly in the NHS could be encouraged and supported throughout the week.
